OUR HORSES

Heiress
Canadian Mare

on lease to us from Phoebe Kingscote from Powell River

Nicki
Trakehner gelding that has had a dressage career

His favorite buddy is Shadow and he loves working in the arena. Nicki has a silly habit of dumping his hay into his water trough, much to the chagrin of those that do his house keeping.

Tiki
12 Year Old Bay Arab Mare

Sweet and petite Tiki thinks she is a pretty little princess and that she should be treated like one. She likes to stand on the door sill in her stall so she can get a better view out her window.

Red
Chestnut gelding standing at 15.3hh

Red is 7 years old and although young he is well behaved with the riders.  He is used for both independent and assisted riders as well as lessons for our instructors in training.  Red is a very gentle horse that loves to be brushed and hugged. Red is leased to us by his owner Rani Johns.

Tess
14 year old black Quarter horse mare

Tess is leased to us this year.  Tess had a lot of training when she was young but the last few years she has been a Mom.  Her owner thought that she needed a new career and so far she is loving all the attention.

Normis
The youngest and tallest

Normis is the youngest and the tallest of our horses standing at 16.3hh and is a thoroughbred - clydesdale cross.   He has been with us for 3 years now and is in training to be our new vaulting horse.  Normis is doing very well with his new job and even does some of our riding classes.

Black Beauty
Welsh Pony

Black Beauty, our Welsh pony, is great for our little riders that need extra aid when riding.  Being shorter helps our volunteers provide that aid with out having to reach.  Like all ponies, Black Beauty complains but she is always good in the classes.

Licorice
Black and white pinto pony standing at 14.2 hands

Licorice is truly what a therapeutic riding horse should be.  She came to us 14 years ago at the age of 6 and fit right in.  Licorice loves the little kids and has even been used for vaulting.  The true beauty of her is that every time you take her out of the stall you have the same horse.  She is the official face of our program.

Max
Max is a palomino Haflinger gelding

He was donated to us by Liz Stubbs, a volunteer that has been with us for 20 years.  Max is very good with our independent riders, but he is so cheeky that only some of our volunteers want to lead him.  His favorite job is Vaulting and he is super at it.

Bella
12 year old Haflinger that stands 13.3 hands

She has done her first Easter at the Barn.  She is now being used for our lessons and  is owned by CVTRS.  Bella needs a sponsor.

P.J.
20 year old Paint-X Mare and is 14 hands.

Great little lesson horse that is very gentle with our young riders.  P.J. is sponsored by Mary Kamann.
